Roots to Crown

Every time I stand before a powerful tree or breathe in the air of a forest I feel inspired, renewed, and awed.  I have always loved trees and for 40 years I was privileged to live in a huge forest in the Laurentian mountains of Quebec.  The trees taught me strength, connected me to my roots, inspired me to look up, and beckoned me to step outside my mind and just listen.  In 2016, I read Peter Wohlleben’s book The Hidden Life of Trees: What They Feel and How They Communicate and it opened a whole new way of seeing and relating to trees. Two years later I travelled across Canada just to stand in the old-growth forests on Vancouver Island, and a year later I flew to Bilboa Spain to see the incredible beech trees in the Otzarreta Forest.  In 2019 I did a solo show at Arbor Gallery called Roots to Crown to pay tribute to these wonderous living beings upon whom our every breath depends.
